Energy Efficiency

Cut the cost of heating your home.

Up to 25 per cent of the total heat lost from homes leaves through windows – yet fitting energy-efficient windows and doors can slash this as much as 75 percent.

In a detached three bedroom home, replacing single or older double-glazed windows could see heating bills fall by up to £160 a year. Since a better insulated home consumes less energy, it also reduces harmful CO2 emissions.

Understanding energy efficiency

Window Energy Ratings rate windows from ‘A/A+’ to ‘G’ using a ‘traffic-light’ type colour code. To meet building regulations, all new windows must achieve a minimum WER ‘C’ rating or U-value of 1.6 or less. Doors and Conservatories are not rated in the same way but both our products are equally as energy efficient as our windows ensuring your home performs well.

Design that keeps you warm

All Formula One windows and doors use a German engineered, thermally efficient five chamber PVCu system which creates a barrier between cold air outside and warm air inside. It’s also been designed to accommodate the most energy efficient triple-glazed insulated units.

Security

Keep your home secure

The quality and design of your windows and doors dictates the security of your home.

One weak link is all it takes: one-fifth of all UK burglaries are committed by simply accessing an unlocked door or open window, whilst forced doors and windows account for all the rest.

Secured by Design

All Formula One windows and doors use the latest shoot-bolt multipoint locking systems and internal glazing beads offering total peace of mind. Profile walls are strong and robust, with steel reinforcement at the critical points to increase resistance to attack. Our security commitment ensures that our windows and doors can meet the Police preferred Secured by Design standard (Note – we can achieve this specification, it is not standard).

Environmental

Lead-free PVCu

Historically, older PVCu window frames and doors used to contain lead-based additives.

If touched, especially once weathered, there was a risk of lead contamination. In addition, for several years now, old end-of-life PVCu products are routinely turned into granules to make reconstituted PVCu and reduce landfill.

We now have the technical ability to use this material safely for non weather-facing material within a number of our profiles. All Formula One weather-facing / UV-facing surfaces are 100% lead free and made from 100% virgin polymer PVCu. Inside, any recycled PVCu is incorporated safely, clearly identified by a different colour.
